What if Joseph Smith was Never Told by God to Start a Church and be the Prophet?

God told Joseph Smith flat out that he (Joseph) "has a gift to translate the book," and
"he shall pretend to no other gift, for I will grant him NO OTHER GIFT."
1833 Book of Commandments Chapter 4 verse 2 (emphasis added)
That includes the gift of "prophet, seer and revelator."
That includes the gift of "restoring the true church."
That includes the gift of "redeeming the dead."
That includes the gift of "gathering Israel."
That includes the gift of any and all "temple work."
That includes the gift of whatever else stemmed from Joseph.
Joseph was only to translate "the book" and NOTHING ELSE.
At least that's what he recorded God telling him as published in the Book of Commandments in 1833.
This is just ONE of the massive changes that Joseph Smith did to the ORIGINAL revelations from God as contained in the 1832 Book of Commandments.
Yes, you must first believe that Joseph received revelations from God and wrote them down, and then published them in 1833 in a book called the Book of Commandments.
Two years later in 1835, MASSIVE changes, additions, and deletions were done to the Book of Commandments and then renamed “The Doctrine and Covenants,” which is still the book the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has today.
If you’ve never done a serious study of all of the changes, I HIGHLY suggest you do so. Here's a file I found that compares the two books side by side to show all of the changes.
It will be extremely insightful (if not shocking), and it will prove that Joseph Smith was NEVER called by God to start a church, be the prophet, or receive revelations from God for the entire world. In fact, he changed the revelations from God to suit his own purpose and design and in the process, has led millions astray.
Side note: According to David Whitmer, those early revelations that were published as the Book of Commandments should have never been published for the world to see. So it makes me wonder, was the infamous burning of the printing press on July 20, 1833 really an act of "anti-Mormons" or was it an act of God?
Significant Changes between the 1833 Book of Commandments and 1835 D&C
D&C 5:14 ADDS this phrase that is NOT found in the Book of Commandments:
“in this the beginning of the rising up and the coming forth of my church out of the wilderness—clear as the moon, and fair as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners.” (emphasis added)
That phrase is NOT contained in the ORIGINAL revelation found in the Book of Commandments but was added to substantiate and validate Joseph starting the "Lord's church."
This is the ORIGINAL revelation in the Book of Commandments, Chapter 5 verses 5-6, but it has been DELETED from the D&C:
5. "And thus, if the people of this generation harden not their hearts, I will work a reformation among them, and I will put down all lyings, and deceivings, and priestcrafts, and envyings, and strifes, and idolatries, and sorceries, and all manner of iniquities, and I will establish my church, like unto the church which was taught by my disciples in the days of old.
6. And now if this generation do harden their hearts against my word, behold I will deliver them up unto satan, for he reigneth and hath much power at this time, for he hath got great hold upon the hearts of the people of this generation: and not far from the iniquities of Sodom and Gomorrah, do they come at this time: and behold the sword of justice hangeth over their heads, and if they persist in the hardness of their hearts, the time cometh that it must fall upon them."
The ORIGINAL Book of Commandments chapter 4 has 6 verses, but the corollary in the D&C is section 5 and it has 19 verses--13 verses more than the original!!
Why is Section 13 of the D&C where supposedly John the Baptist comes to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery and restores the Aaronic Priesthood:
Not a "revelation" but an "extract" from Joseph's history?
Not originally even in the Book of Commandments?
Ordained in the name of "Messiah" instead of "Jesus Christ?"
There are NUMEROUS and SIGNIFICANT other changes that Joseph Smith (probably with the help of Sydney Rigdon) did to the original revelations in order to do what THEY wanted to do—start a church and put Joseph as the leader.
But NONE of that is what God commanded Joseph to do.
I would HIGHLY encourage you to research those changes before you declare to own your destruction that “The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints is the only true and living church on the face of the earth today and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God” or something to that effect [and please note that that phrase of repetition is a mind-control technique]
SO PLEASE...
I am pleading with you to open your heart to hear the TRUTH.
Open your heart enough to wonder…
Open your heart enough to ponder…
Open your heart enough to ask…
Just ask yourself a simple question:
“What if Joseph Smith was never told by God to start a church and be the prophet?”
Would that make any difference to what you believe to be “true” and what you need to do to receive eternal life back into the presence of our Heavenly Father?
Remember:
only Jesus is Truth. Not Joseph Smith.
only Jesus is The Way back to the Father. There is no “Covenant Path.”
only Jesus is the New Covenant. Not secret blood oath covenants or sealing covenants made in LDS Temples.
It’s all and only Jesus.
